Another year at Ely Folk Festival, amongst many others (see our Gigs page). This year we have started running harmony workshops due to popular demand, and have proved that they can be successful with few or many participants! We are always flexible!

Autumn update

We were lucky to be able to record and produce our new CD ‘Blackbird’ in a short space of time at the end of August (thanks to Anahata of Treewind studios!). Now the leaves are falling and the CD is selling ; there were queues – queues, I tell you! –  at the Apex in Bury last Monday. Thank you to Terry of The Milkmaid Folk Club for the opportunity to support the legendary Carthy and Swarbrick, and we’re glad we pleased so many people with our warbling!

We had a great time at BAMfest in Bedale, Yorkshire at the beginning of the month (winning the songwriting competition was a highlight). This weekend we’re off to Alcester Folk Festival in Warwickshire, and next month sees us at Ely Folk Festival for the third year running. Hoping to meet old friends and fans, and make some more!

We’ve just done  some recording for a new CD – the first as a foursome. As we have a busy few months of gigs coming up, we may not get round to producing the finished article for a while, but good things come to those who wait!

We’ve been joined by the fabulous Moose Rosser – four-part harmony will now be a whole lot easier!

First gig as a foursome will be at Ely Folk Festival in less than 2 weeks’ time – we’ve booked fair weather.

5 days to go until our gig at Wattisfield, along with The Bounty Hounds. The excitement is building now!

Just found out that we’ve been asked back to Ely Folk Festival this July, after our successful come-and-sing-with-us session last year. What good taste the organisers have!!

Happy New Year!

Looking forward to some exciting ventures this year, with songs old, new and old-but-new-to-us!

The promised CD is now available  – Under the Moon is our first CD with Sound Tradition’s ‘new ‘ line-up, and we are pretty proud of it! It was ready just before we went to Ely Folk Festival – perfect timing.

Ely proved a great mix of traditional music and traditional mud, but the rain held off during the weekend itself (hurrah!). We led a rousing session of join-in chorus songs, and the crowds kept coming! Between us all we managed to drown out the impromptu session from the beer tent next door. Something like this.
Last Friday we sang as support for the marvellous Crucible at The Milkmaid – and if you went to see Bellowhead instead, then you missed a treat! Huge thanks to Crucible for letting us in on their performance of one of our favourite songs, Pilgrimage. What a privilege (by happy co-incidence, this song appears on the new CD…).
